Wal-Mart

Just to clarify, Wal-Mart's only pilot domicile is Rogers, Arkansas. I believe some of the posts above are talking about Anheuser Busch with a domicile in SUS.
That was probably already clear to everyone, but I thought we'd better make certain.

I have run into a number of Walmart's pilots while training and on the road. I have never heard one of their pilots say anything positive about the company. It is really sad that the largest company in the world has this reputation.

I don't know when you supposedly spoke with a Wal-Mart pilot. If it was more than 3 or 4 years ago your information is wildly inaccurate. Everyone has little gripes about their employer, but I haven't talked to anyone who says anything "negative" in quite some time.
If you are going to post something like that here, perhaps you should add specifics? What were they unhappy about?

So if it was less than 3-4 years ago it is accurate??????
I ran into a number of their pilots from about 1999 until 2006. The things they complained about were schedule, quality of equipment (I think they have upgraded their fleet somewhat since 1999), benefits, and most of all their salery. All said that they were grossly underpaid when compared to industry standard.
I agree with you that everyone has minor gripes with their employer. When one person says something negative about their employer, one tends to take it with a grain of salt, but when everyone you talks to is down on the company, one would think the gripes are real.
My point in my first post was just that I don't hear people within their aviation department saying good things about the company and for a company that size, thats a shame.

Here are a few details.

Hope this helps put an end to the rumors.
It's a great place to work. Like family! Pilots furloughed from major airlines have not gone back to their majors when they were called if that tells you anything.
- 18 Learjets: 3 Learjet 45s, 13 Learjet 31 & 31A
- There is a Challenger and a Global Express but it is not likely that a pilot hired today would ever fly those.
- All pilots are hired as Learjet 31 First Officer
- They will type you immediately at FSI
- No set "minimums" but competitive minimums seem to be over 3000 hours with some prior turbine experience
- Home almost every night (most trips are 6:30 to 17:30)
- Starting pay around $50,000 + 10% bonus + stock.
- New! Guaranteed 3 year upgrade!!!
- Captain pay starts around $74,000 + 10% bonus + stock.
- Relocation to Bentonville area required, but company paid
- Interview is all-expenses paid (airfare, hotel, transportation, etc)
- FlightSafety recurrent twice a year
- Guaranteed days off schedule (no pager) from the day you're hired, until the day you retire. About 11 guaranteed days off a month -- more if you count weekends.
- Very few weekend/holiday trips.
- 4 day weekend off guaranteed each month.
- Operations Coordinators (similar to flight followers). Safety is a big deal.
- No catering. Aircraft stocked with bottled water only
- Department seems friendly to furloughed and former airline.
- Former TWA, Delta, USAir, Eagle, Corporate Express, Comair pilots all flying there.
- No sharing of hotel rooms
- Company credit card for meals on the road

Not sure. I'm not in any way involved with the hiring. I am positive they look for a lot more than numbers on a piece of paper though. Fly safe.
