The G500 and G550 are different enough that there will be differences in pay. Also, are you already typed in either? What kind of experience do you have?

Busflier 06-05-2022 04:50 PM

I am typed & experienced mostly in the Airbus (A320 & A330). I am not typed on the G5. But was looking to shift from Commercial airline flying to corporate if I had a chance.

The number varies tremendously, and hopefully you know someone, because its very hard for airline guys to break into corporate. Not saying I agree with that, but that is the reality of things. Chances are you won’t get a top tier unicorn job right away. Getting a job in corporate is 75% networking.

You’re going to have a hard time finding a good flight department that will look past your short time at spirit and then United.

G500 type rating is $110k+ so I don’t really see an operator wanting to invest that much cash in someone that appears (on the face of it) to simply be testing the waters.

Leaving UAL for corporate? Oooof....you better have a REALLY good reason for doing that, and be able to articulate that in an interview.

Since you framed the question G500/G550 I am assuming you are talking about a 5000 series G500 which is the same as a G550 (GV Type) with 6000 lbs less fuel. There isn't any real standard of pay as it will depend on your location and operation. However, I have been flying this type for over 12 years and lately we are seeing salaries from $170K to $300K+ for a PIC and $140K to 200K+ for an SIC. Most of the aircraft we operate are flown co-captain with one of them being a more senior lead captain.

Thank you for the reply…..just tired of flying commercial & the amount of time I spend at airports is just too much. I was thinking that Corporate may have a better work life balance with more days off & less days of flying. Let me know what you think.
