Default Advice on starting a 125 cert.

I am looking for advice from those who have experience starting a 125 cert from scratch. I would like your opinion/advice/tips on resources, a time line, costs, and any other wisdom you have to offer. The aircraft is a 727, thanks!

Let me be critical first then proactive secondly. If you're asking for advice on a messgae board you probably are not the person for the job.
If you're looking for help in this endeavor I would contact GLN Compliance in Denver. I started a couple of 135 certs on my own and 1 with GLN and I am still kicking my self in the arse for all the effort and time ( let alone money ) I could have saved by going to them.
Have you considered purchasing a 125 cert from a struggling operator?
Good Luck and I hope you get it off the ground.
I would do more aircraft analysis unless you are handcuffed to this aircraft for one reason or other.

My advice would be: Don't bother, as the FAA has issued guidance indicating that they intend to phase out 125 and force all 125 operators to convert to 121.

You are therefore better off to plan to undertake a 121 certification.

Please feel free to PM me with any additional specific questions.

I appreciate your response, however I disagree with your assessment regarding the value of gathering information here. I recognize there is a wealth of talent and experience available on APC to draw from. I can learn from the mistakes of others which can save time and money. At this point I am just beginning to research the process, and this is just one source that I am acquiring information from. Many years in the left seat has taught me not to let my pride stop me from asking questions. I will collect info and make decisions accordingly.

I do agree with you on GLN, they have a great rep. Yes, we are exploring the option of purchasing a 125. The aircraft is paid for and has sentimental meaning to the boss.

True, I have heard they are phasing it out, either 135 or 121. PM if you really want to talk, I might have a bargain to what your looking for.
