Status of Ford and GM flt. depts
What is the current status of the Ford and GM flight departments?
Are all their pilots looking for jobs?
I thought the part of the bail-out bill that included shutting their flight depts. was removed?
Any info. would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Johnny

Last I heard from inside Ford was that they would be officially closed on Jan 31st and all their pilots would be on the street.
Also, rumor has it that GM's Planes w/ Pilots will be going to a local Corporate FBO.

For some reason I have a hard time seeing the Exec's of those companies flying airline. The only thing that will change will be now they hire a charter plane. Really it's just going to be there pilots getting shafted cause they want to keep image in order to keep the politicians happy for bailout money. They will all have flt departments in 3-5 years.

FastEasy, your abs right, they will prob will have flight departments sooner than later. The government should do a little more fact checking rather than just point the finger of shame, example CITI Group, they lost a ton of cash when they returned that 7x to manufacture.
Penastar is handling sale of those aircraft. I hope those pilots rebound quickly after that unprecedented closing of flight departments.

I'm not sure I would go as far as saying ten or hunderds are closing but most of the big flight departments are closed or in the process. Private Aviation has recieved a beating from the media. I'm still curious where the NBAA is, seems to me they have responded to a few comments but not strong enough.
