Corporate aircraft security
#1
I just finished the article about security abroad in pro pilot mag. Is it really that dangerous around the world? Security guards 24/7 for the plane? People robbing parts off your aircraft?
Any of the world wide operators on this board experience any problems on trips? I would love to hear about it.

We have had aircraft vandalized - not a terrorism type event, just general vandalism...
Well yeah, theres places in the world that are dangerous, and places in the world where N-registered aircraft with wealthy people are a very lucrative target.
Its not unusual to bring your own security with you...but even in the $hitholes of the world the airport itself is usually the most secure place. Its the ride to /from the hotel and general wandering that makes you a target.
Simple precautions like security researching the best hotels, drivers etc usually takes care of it all. Yes, sometimes security watching the airplane is also used - just have to be careful who you hire!
Not a big deal, more common sense than anything. Leave your rolex at home, dont walk around on your iphone etc - basically dont be a dumbass corporate pilot.
