Flying to Mexico

Do any of you go to Mexico without using a handler? If so, what issues if any do you run into? Thanks

What would the cons be to not use a handler?

HTH - 2013 thread, all recommend a handler.

First of all....where in Mehhhico will you be gracing your presence with?

I would recommend a handler in your case since this appears to be a first trip south.
The advantages are great as they can assist in:
- airport specific customs/immigration procedures
- Paying the bill
- GETTING A FUEL TRUCK BEFORE THE YEAR 2040 (this is a big issue down there). Priority means knowing Humberto the Handler and Benjamin the $100 bill.
- Better parking spot if you going to a place like Cabo
- Legitimate and safe transportation
- Files your flight plan if needed
etc..etc..etc

Cons
- cost money but still worth the cost
- I think thats it!

Enjoy Meeehhhico

Remember that you need proof of insurance, and some other peculiarities that an handler can expedite for you.

Mexico ? Another language ? Known "safety concerns" ? Etc ? Handler

"try to wing it" aka no handler ? Grand Cayman, Bahamas, etc.

Mexico = Handler

Was just there. Not only proof of insurance, but they wanted to see the "receipt" for payment of said insurance. Tried explaining that we don't get the coverage/policy without having paid for it, but they were hard over on seeing a receipt. Handler sorted it out.

Get a handler.

Handler. No question about it. Sometimes things change rather dynamically in Mexico. You handler can deal with it.

I would add that using a handler is the way things are done in Mexico. Good luck getting service without one, almost like an insult to them. "Handler, we don't need no stinking handler!"

Cancun?

The Commandante (aka poppa smurf) is the biggest hard a$$ I have ever come across in 15+ years of flying to Mexico. It is always something every time you have to deal with him.
