July 10: Summer is 50% over
With the assumption that the typical school summer break is May 25 to Aug 25, then July 10 is the approximate mid-way point.
Summer is half over, the upside is that it is 50% left to go. lets get Disney, theme parks, etc open ASAP |
Ok. You go first.

You and the other ones here are in serious denial. You can’t wish this virus away. It’s going to take a huge effort by everyone.

I know you’re merely a troll, but it makes me feel better to know that as bad as it might get for me, I’ll never have to deal with being wired like you are.

Gonna pile on to this sentiment. Currently in Miami for training with a new airline after the last folded; live elsewhere in the state. Current situation statewide is COVID-fueled dumpster fire - far worse that what we shut down for earlier in the year. I can't believe Disney is deciding to reopen, but don't worry, you're getting your wish.

I really don't understand why people are so upset about Disney. By far it is the safest place to be if you chose to go anywhere at the moment. The same people yelling about Disney had no issue with all of us piling into Walmarts for the last three months. If you knew/saw the precautions that Disney has taken in the park to keep people apart and safe you'd stop being so upset about it. Or if you still are, then at least spread out the frustration to all the Walgreens, Walmarts and Publix's that were open throughout and didn't even come close to the precautions taken at Disney.

Those are all, you know, grocery stores. Where people have to go to buy food and medical supplies.

No, it wouldn’t matter if it’s a gentlemen’s club or a church. I was talking about precautions taken. Not it’s validity to be open during a pandemic which is a whole other thing. Take a quick search through recent live streams and photos of the parks being previewed for employees and pass holders. The next time you go to any other store that’s... ya know a grocery store, you’ll feel exposed by comparison.

SMH.
And we can't figure out why we're tied up in the **** show that we are. Can't for the life of me figure out why countries are closing their borders to our citizens. |

The people who are upset at Disney are upset that it’s opening, not that they’re not taking enough precautions. You could have everyone in a hazmat suit and it’s still a bad idea. 56 ICU’s in Florida are at capacity, a woman died today after being turned away from two different hospitals due to over-capacity, and the least essential business in the world is going to reopen.
I don’t care if you think it should or should not be open. The question is how are they keeping it safe, and I think the answer is much better than most other places. Disney: Mandates and enforces mask wearing, social distancing, sanitation. Walmart: “I mean I guess we’ll wipe down some carts” |

Again, not the point I was making, you’re arguing something else. This isn’t about whether or not it should be open. It is now, since it’s open what are they doing to keep people safe? The answer is, doing a waaay better job than any other establishment that was allowed to stay open throughout the “lockdown.” So therein lies my point. If you’re gonna complain about Disney then also complain about supermarkets that didn’t take nearly the same precautions, to avoid being a hypocrite.

I'm trying to imagine the appeal of spending all day outside in 90 degree heat, 100 pct humidity, in the Florida sun, while wearing a mask and standing in an endless line for five minutes on a roller coaster. I mean really? I'd rather deadhead to Port Moresby on Air Kazakhstan, in a middle seat of course...

I'd rather just sit around and listen to my ears ring than endure that crap. I have spent way to much time in the state of Florida during the summer in years past. I definitely stay away during the months of May - October, period! |

Disney: Mandates and enforces mask wearing, social distancing, sanitation. Walmart: “I mean I guess we’ll wipe down some carts” Well since you originally replied to me - as a Floridian I am implying that Disney should not be open while ICUs in this state are filling up and many are past capacity. It is the least essential of the non-essential businesses, and one more unnecessary place that's open where people can interact and spread this thing. And while we're at it, neither should the bars and restaurants for dine in patrons, either, IMHO. But I'm sitting here self-quarantining for COVID exposure so I might be a little biased. |
