I do know that there ARe opposing viewpoints to our .gov leaders in the "scientific" community. Like, actual doctors and "experts" who disagree with Fauci and media ordained "experts". Last I checked (AP physics in high school), science doesnt have an agenda. Science considers and analyzes all sources of info! I get it, pilots these days dont get to make many decisions or analyze things... we are trained to blindly follow the QRH, ECAM, FOM, FAR's, etc. "Science" however, is much different from being a pilot.

The Elmhurst video is on par with sandy hook conspiracy theories. Which is to say it’s vile and disgusting.

I live in downtown Seattle and witnessed the riots firsthand. Like, outside my door. I saw the tactics antifa uses. I was at the day 1 protests (as a George Floyd supporter!!!) and I watched the antifa thugs infiltrate the crowd and turn it into a riot. I watched them torch a police car. I was feet away when a rioter stole an AR-15 from a cruiser. I watched them start to smash windows and loot in Westlake Seattle. I saw them throwing glass bottles of **** and fireworks at mostly non-white cops.

Im glad you are obviously privileged enough to not live in one of these urban centers, but any sane person here knows the truth. I cant wait to leave... only 10 more months on my lease and I will again be a commuter!

This is actually a pretty good article about the mask narrative and how it has evolved since top health officials have learned more, and healthcare workers have more appropriate levels of PPE.

IMO staying to not wear a mask because they wanted the good masks for healthcare workers was very inappropriate. I understand the reason, but they should have just told the truth. It’s always better to keep the masses informed, they will respect and trust important information the next time rather than blow off the information as coming from a liar.

That’s great news, maybe people are getting the point. In the Midwest where I live only approximately 20% are wearing masks as an observation, however more businesses are getting on the bandwagon and hopefully next week those numbers increase. Many local stores and businesses in the area are advising of mandatory mask usage, customers not in compliance will be asked to leave.

im finding a whole slew of businesses locally getting the point. If they don’t require masks, I’ll be happy to support them and I’m not alone. There’s a bunch of local businesses that are making up for shut down quite well right now.

Yeah Atlanta is 50 percent at best. On a good note it is mostly younger people masking up so hopefully that will save some people who should be taking it seriously.

In a previous post I had put up an article albeit a CNN piece about mask usage and how the narrative has changed. It was BS how it played out, and there is no defense or excuse for the communication period... It is these types of actions and communication failures that have us divided, although there is plenty politically dividing the country as well... this was a failure. I would rather have someone admit fault, make changes when warranted, and keep focus on winning the fight with the virus right now.

It was a reasonable response. His comment did acknowledge the damage done by the changing narrative, he didn’t comment on the article, but that’s ok. He doesn’t have to. When you make posts like the above you lose credibility. I actually agree with some of what you say, some of what many of us here have to say, but when you bicker like this it’s kinda *****y. Sorry for being an ass to you. Your posts do spurn thought, and a back and forth discussion and that’s a good thing.

Everyone who claims to be outraged by the mixed messaging regarding masks by the White House and CDC is using it as a reason to discount CDC guidelines that they personally do not agree with. It's purely political posturing. I've seen better actors at a community theater.

Anyone with an IQ greater than 80 could have seen what was happening in March. The messaging was clear. Don't use masks. Donate your masks to medical personnel. Remember that? They wanted you to donate any N95 masks in your possession to help the shortage. If masks were worthless, then why did they want you to donate them?

Only now do these jokers come back with their faux outrage. "I can't believe that they lied to me!" with his wrist to his forehead. Like a southern debutante who's been spurned by her beau.

It's all theater to back up their position that they do not agree with CDC guidelines. And it's worthy of mockery.

There was no shortage of cloth and bandanas in March. Yet here we are, spreading the good word that cloth masks and bandanas are going to end the pandemic.

Horse$hit! I ABSOLUTELY believed they lied to me and knew it at the time. What I have been saying is that it was a dumb$hit move on their part and BAD POLICY. You, on the other hand, tried to justify it to me because idiots were buying out Costco and hoarding mountains of toilet paper.

It is entirely possible to support mask use as an intervention strategy (even while accepting it is not going to be 100% effective) while castigating whatever idiot compromised the credibility of the CDC by lying initially. Those are not mutually exclusive opinions to hold.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression and no field in medicine requires credibility with the public to do their job more than the field of public health. Whoever made the decision to lie shot themselves (and public health in general) in the foot. It was a STUPID thing to do.
