Shouldn’t surprise anyone. Immunizations lessen the severity of subsequent infections but they don’t bring the risk to an 85 year old down to that of a 20 year old, not even to that of an unvaccinated 20 year old.

Minnesota just announced that the death rate for vaccinated people under 50 has been 0.00. Areas in both the US and Worldwide with the exception of countries using Chinese or Russian vaccines that have Vaccination rates above 90% have extremely low covid rates. Puerto Rico which was a covid hotbed is seeing many days with new covid cases in single digits after reaching a 90% vaccination rate. The vaccine is working and working really well.
