It appears that Delta need to codeshare the IT dept out like we are doing with the flying.

if you don't get it.....no one can explain it.

what the individual employees do at this company to contribute to the operation.....and the burden their fellow employees and our customers bear, is in many cases in spite of management.....and not because of.

Since ron allens days.....when I had the occasion to become acquainted with fellow employees in varied parts of delta, I developed a huge appreciation for the kind of people we had around here. I concluded this airline functioned and succeeded for the most part in spite of senior management, and not because of.

it also occurred to me the employees deserved far better leadership than they had/have....:)

Ok, so you're not defending the actions of Delta leadership.

Sure seems like you are enabling those same actions, however.

Yeah dude that was his words, not mine. Copy/post of a twitters post. The portion you're quoting as me was part of the lawyer's post.

I realize you're proud to work for your company, but what are you trying to prove with that drivel of ours? The comment on the upcoming SSL was totally irrelevant and just shows you were butt hurt at the twitter post above (once again, not my twitter words).

Not that it matters, my 2 cents: When it comes to recovery for an airline, cancelling in advance and rescheduling on their own terms with planes and crews they know are available and legal is far easier with less headaches than running a full schedule for an upcoming storm. Not just a Delta problem but pretty much any airline that prizes completion factor above most other things. The storms can be blamed for the day's mess and the following day. But lingering effects into day 4 can't be blamed on just weather.

No one is saying its "just" weather. But obviously any self identified "lawyer" who is popping off in tweetville about it is most likely just trying to drum up street cred, and likely business through the frivolity of sensationalistic demagoguery by preying on the populist predisposition towards all things airline.

I agree that the foundation to the recovery is what you do before the event, and by definition that means cancellations. Another piece of the puzzle is IT, which all airlines (especially larger multi fleet ones) continue to struggle with without exception, in good times and in bad.

As for my snarkyness, its not lost on anyone when you slam major airlines, particularly DL. You have some degree of sour grapes/career path justification and it shows. That's fine too (to a point everyone does) and that does not in itself prove or disprove any particular point you may try to make. But it very much came across as Nelson from The Simpsons stopping by to say "AH-HA!" which is also fine, and to a point maybe even deserved.

You stopped by to throw a little rock at our glass house, which is fair enough. Its not entirely undeserved. Such residences are common in the industry, from Atlanta to Burlingame.

I'm quite happy gloopy. If you knew my age when I was hired and the timing/luck of it all, I have no regrets and am actually happy given the outcome considering the Age65/Recession hit all pilots took. But thanks for your shrink analysis.

Management comes and goes. And gud job or bad...its always with suitcases full of cash.

The rest of us are stuck here. With each other....and the customers who provide our paychecks.

Iv seen enuf mgmt snafus to realize holding my breath isnt going to correct their shortcomings. In day to day and in irops....witholding the extra efforts only makes my fellow employees jobs mord difficult.

And our customers experience more unpleasant.

Its not kool aid. Its at a minimum in my own self interest

You can't assume everything. But we buy a lot of used aircraft, I've seen some ground equipment that can't push my airplane. And we'll, our tablets are minor league, right. DBMS is 1980's. Time to invest in our infrastructure, instead of stock buybacks. We're under $50, still.
