LAX terminal swap update?
 

Any reports from the ground in LAX today?

Waited 25 minutes for a gate tonight, but that's OPS normal. Lots of extra agents to direct PAX to shuttles or walking directions.

Terminal 3 at LAX is a DUMP
 

I flew through Terminal 3 at LAX yesterday - WHAT A COMPLETE DUMP! I counted one Burger King and a Starbucks with a line counting 50+ people. A vast majority of the passengers were sitting on the ground with not many seats available. No doubt most business travelers will be UNIMPRESSED.

I hope Delta starts the renovation process ASAP on that POS terminal. :eek:

Before or after they buy the CS300 variant?:confused:

Terminal is very small and outdated but the Operation is way more efficient than the Southside terminals. Seeing what Delta did with the LGA C & D renovation I expect Terminals 2 & 3 to look pretty nice in a couple years

Operationally it is much better. Been in and out of the north side twice and it is very efficient. Yesterday about 8 minutes from out to off. After landing you can quickly make it to your alley and gate without 5 stop and hold short clearances - much better.

Now about the terminals - yes I would say "dump" is a fairly accurate description although a few others come to mind:

dark
lackluster
gloomy
dismal
forlorn
stygian
languid
glum
somber
melancholy
dull

dusky
and finally the good old just plain worn out. :eek:

With that said however I like the fact that we now have access to a BK lounge. Terminal 5 is nice but for anyone not chased around by the paparazzi definitely a little pricey.

In the optimistic spirit of our beloved and fast approaching MOAB, I will end on a positive note - think of all the room for improvement! :D

T3 is HORRIBLE. Its even more horrible when there are large crowds of passengers there. It makes ATL look like heaven.

Atlanta isnt heaven....but if you die in the southeast you do have to change planes in atl to get to heaven. :)

This move in lax is going to pay off in spades for all of us.

The pretty CS300s parked at the gates will be the highlight of the trip for business passengers who will be disappointed once stepping off the airplane and into that DUMP.

Sorry for the feedback. I hadn't been in that terminal for decades and I was shocked.

There's a Pete's coffee and good burrito/sandwich place by gate 30 T3 zero line this PM . You'd never know it was there if you bussed over from T2. Worked Sunday and today. It's a dump, buts it's our dump and it has more gates to look on the brightside of things.

If it's any consolation, we bought it as a fixer upper. It'll be completely redone over the next couple years.

There's no reason why it can't be a 1st class facility. Alaska and Virgin never wanted to do more than replace the carpets.

Question, Is there really a pet relief area as the focal feature at the center of the concourse as you enter our new gates area? Please tell me this looks worse on the picto-map than it really is.

There is a certain charm to be able to enjoy a latte while watching a poodle take a dump..

Allegiant, Virgin and Spirit have been suffering through that dump for years. We really appreciate you taking it off our hands!

T5 is like a palace! I'm sure our passengers love it.

You may love the inside but the ramp area is like a clogged toilet.
We spent more than that on a walkway in LGA that will be torn down.

Nah. At AAY, we only have a handful of flights a day. No delays noted!

It's great! Last year was a little disappointing but we're expecting 10% gross this year now that we are in the new program a full year.

How are those long trips? Those overnights? I do one round trip 10-12 days a month, sleep in my bed every night, and make 80% what you do on similar equipment. But hey, let's not go there. Everyone works where they do for their own reasons.

Long trips? Ha! Overnights? They rock, except for Vegas. The hotel there is awesome, but the town just outright sucks ballz. You know this already, though. 10% profit sharing? 10% of what? a 1% margin?! Enjoy that. I'd spend more than that on a craps table in an evening at that crap hole called Vegas.
Oh, and I don't fly anything similar to you. I fly something smaller, but pays just as much.

Ended last night at 26. Waited 20 for a gate and we were 45 late from ATL. Entire terminal was packed. Couldn't find an escalator to baggage level. Walked down stairs, rent a cop chick was ****ed at us and we did it anyway. Watched 3 East busses pass until a W/S Bus came - Packed. So far it's only a one star terminal.
