Default Delta Airlineapps Driving Record Question

Hello all:

I have a question about the driving record section of the Delta app and would like some advice. To make a long story short, I recently totaled my car while driving on the interstate. It had just started to rain, cars were slowing down ahead of me, and I reached up and hit the brakes. The car hydroplaned, and spun out of control and hit the sidewall of an elevated expressway. I was lucky for 2 reasons, one - I was not hurt, and two - I did not hit anyone else. Just had a damaged car and ego. I ended up calling the police and when they arrived they basically said I could either get a ticket for careless driving (or something like that) or sign a piece of paper which said I did not need a police report and I can go on my merry way with no ticket, since no other vehicles were involved. I chose the second option.

My question is how do I report this on the app? I want to make it clear that I do not want to hide anything. I am having trouble coming up with what to put down for this accident, and how much detail should be entered.

Thank you in advance.

JL

This.

If there is any doubt, just report it. You'll be given the chance to explain it. Not only that, but in 100% of every interview, you will have to explain something. If you don't have anything, they'll find something. Better IMO to have some well known and well thought out ones that you can explain away easily. The notion that they are looking for flawless, spotless specimens is false.

If you're seriously worried, then this is a question to pay an aviation attorney a couple hundred bucks and get a real answer, not ask a bunch of Internet warrior crew lounge lawyers who already got the golden ticket.

But for a quick and dirty, you didn't get a ticket, right? The question doesn't say "list every time you almost/could have gotten a ticket". Catch a my drift?

There was no paperwork, there is nothing to report.

I want to report it on the app. I screwed up on the road, and I learned from it. This was a near death experience. Not listing it to me would be dishonest. That is not the question here. I'm looking for advice on how to list it properly.

The app asks what violation is it....Would it be careless driving? Wreckless? Failure to maintain control of vehicle? Not really sure. Do I put down that I totaled my car? Or wait to explain that in an interview if I were to get selected?

It also asks if I was convicted....I believe that would be a no since I did not receive a ticket or go to court.

There is a record of this happening. Like I said the officer made me sign a form that said I did not need a police report to give to my insurance company. I specifically asked him if there was any way to trace this piece of paper, and he said that there may be some record that he assisted a vehicle that was stalled on the side of the road but that is it.

Also, there is obviously record with my insurance company of this event happening as well. I do not believe that airlines have access to an applicants insurance records, but basically what I am saying is that there is some sort of a paper trail that exists.

Boy, thats a tough one...honestly, not really sure what you would call it...

I listed a ticket that I knew I got in 1992, but wasn't on my FL driving record (as well os the others that were.

I guess just call it an accident that didn't involve another vehicle...

Be honest but answer the application question. No ticket means no citation/violation. No citation/violation means no conviction. Without the ticket, you really have nothing to list and are speculating (as you did in your post above...Careless? Failure to maintain control? Reckless...not "wreckless"...you clearly had a wreck &#128513.

What you are asking is similar to putting down each and every time you were pulled over by law enforcement and let off with a warning but then entering on your application, "I was pulled over for doing 64 in a 55 but I wasn't ticketed." Not the question asked on the application.

Good luck!

What he said. Delta Air Lines is probably more interested in your ability to read, comprehend, and follow directions than if you totaled a car in bad weather. I can't believe this is really up for discussion. At first I really thought you were trolling but now I'm just dumbfounded. If you didn't get a ticket there's nothing to report. My understanding is that the question asks for "infractions". You didn't have an infraction, you had a wreck. Now if you want to discuss this in a potential interview as "something I learned from" go for it but I would absolutely NOT list it on the app simply because it's not the question they are asking, and will probably get your app skipped over in the pile.
