Unused short call?

New language makes no sense to me. Timecard, PAS, etc also make no sense of this to me.

Does an unused short call period pay an hour now? Many thanks

An hour toward reserve guarantee. So it helps your raw score that's about it.

You'll see it on your timecard* when your SC is complete. Your cup will runneth over by an hour.

*Why we have a timecard, pay statement and PAS is beyond me.

I had 5-6 short calls that I was not called out on and was paid 758 extra for the month. I was also way below the guarantee and only flew 6 days.

Huh? What was the pay for?

What you imply (short calls boost pay) is how many of us think the system should work. But I'm either misunderstanding you or you are misunderstanding your paycheck. You sure it's not some other adjustment, a pay anniversary, suit-up pay or other anomaly driving your pay up this particular month? I'd love to be wrong and the company with ALPA's agreement changed the language about pay for short calls. Not holding my breath...

this is what is not making any sense to me, and I don't doubt the above is correct, but...wouldn't I already be at reserve guarantee? so how does doing an unused short call change anything?

I think he meant (as I understand it), an hour torward filling up. If your category reserves are getting used a lot, an hour for each short call could cut you loose a little early in the month.

Or prevent you from filling up quickly.

Correct. Say reserve guarantee is 80 and you sit short call without getting used you get 1 short call credit and one hr of credit towards filling up your 80 hr reserve guarantee. Thus if you had 79:01 before your short call you'd now have 80:01 and be done for the month.
