I made the same mistake when I texted a friend about the route first being announced.

That wouldn't have been too outlandish a suggestion to '90s Delta, though. I remember 3 757s a day on CMH-CVG until the early 2000s!

The original word came from a non-aviation forum and is basically phrased “somebody on the chamber board said...”

It could be anything including just a formal announcement of the new SkyClub. I haven’t seen anything on DeltaNet or on any of Austin Airport’s social media regarding the club yet.

Granted the fact that it’s 9000 sq. ft. and includes a SkyDeck would indicate that Delta’s 25% growth in the last two years is just the beginning...

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/30/delt...ith-qatar.html

"We need to have a presence in the Middle East. We need to have a presence in India and other parts of Southeast Asia, which we have been run out," Bastian told CNBC. "By shining a light on the scope of the subsidies and providing transparency, it is going to allow us all to make long-term investment decisions to go into markets knowing that our government is standing behind us."

Thoughts?

Its the most progress we've made on tis issue but I'm still not ready to call this even a moderate win.

Its only Qatar, and obviously their intent is to dilly dally at least 2 more years while growing like crazy. At the end of that, they'll most likely just offer up the same phony denial they already tried only repackaged to say everything fine, move along, nothing to see here. Emirates and Etihad will maybe follow a year or two later starting the same multi year stall tactic process while growing like crazy.

I'd love to be wrong on this, but it looks like we're getting played hard.

My thoughts exactly. We will be allowed to see only what they want us to see. I don’t see this as a path to proof that they’ve been receiving unfair subsidies.

Mr. Bastian needs to define "We" in this context. If it's not 100% Delta mainline equipment and crews well then, it isn't really "We" is it?

Perhaps the next step in this process (since all seems forgiven) with Qatar is yet another JV or SkyTeam Alliance partner.
