Default Expired 1st Class Medical

What should I do? I just received a fix it and mail from Delta but one of the issues was my 1st Class Medical is not current. I am over 40 and it is past 6 months so it is expired and now a 2nd Class. I am currently in Afghanistan for the next 6 weeks and unable to renew my 1st class. Should I just put a date that says I’m current (so they can review my app now) knowing I’m getting it updated when I get back or just wait until it’s officially updated before I resubmit my app?

Sure, you could lie on your application...

If they elect to invite you for interview and save your app and compare it to the date you actually have your medical completed and notice you gave false information to them it might have a pretty negative outcome on your hiring chances.

Or, you could wait the 6 weeks and update the app when you have your new first class medical, and email them back letting them know you’ve fixed it and explaining the delay was due to a rotation in Afghanistan.

I agree, i didn't want to lie on the app just to get a quicker review. Someone that works at Delta suggested that to me and i just needed to hear the right answer. Thanks

Can a mod delete this thread? This info can likely ID an employment candidate who had a huge brain fart, to management.

Some entrepreneurial military flight doc could charge a pretty penny to do FAA medicals overseas. I'd pay $500 myself if it meant not missing an interview date at a Major by a matter of months.

Be honest. Reply to the fix it email and tell them your situation. Delta wants to interview you...assuming you fix any other outstanding flaws they might have seen. They will be patient and wait for you. Do NOT lie. It's pretty much the only thing Delta won't accept. And I'm with Han Solo here on this one. Can we delete this? PMs are better.

Or airlines could stop this ridiculous nonsense and accept that first class medicals are good for a year for all practical extents and purposes. All of DL's narrow body FO's do this, as do most airlines in the US. They can always require a 6 month currency to get the job but that should in no way effect an application. That's just ludicrous.
