$175

So who's going to spend $175 to buy their Surface 3 from the company once the iPads come out?

I asked my 2 sons if either of them wanted it. The 11 year old summed their views with “Dad. That thing is ghetto.”

I’ll be sending it back.

Do you know if we can just buy back the keyboard that came with it?

If they’re asking $175 for the surface, it’s safe to assume the keyboard is worth $165.

GyroNole 03-16-2018 06:53 PM

I’s rather spend that on the ipad keyboard...$169 ish I heard from a test team member

Makes you wonder if the powers that be are plugged in.

cynicalaviator 03-16-2018 08:11 PM

Surface 2 was offered for $100 iirc. I might have thought about it if the S3 was sold for that price. But $175?

snowdawg 03-16-2018 08:22 PM

Mines for sale... 175.99 plus shipping. :p

80ktsClamp 03-16-2018 08:33 PM

I'd pay 175 dollars to go all office space on my surface.... maybe. :)

Don’t forget to add Alpa dues in the total.

Hank Kingsley 03-17-2018 05:26 AM

What are the specs on the Surface, processor etc.? Would it run better with the Delta garbage off it?

TED74 03-17-2018 05:53 AM

Happy to trash the Surface 3... but at that price point, what is the better alternative? My mom needs a computer for surfing, email, word processing and Excel.

Any chromebook.

Don’t know the specs but the thing does work better without the extra stuff on it from an airline. I kept mine from a previous employer and once they took their fingers out of it the surface was actually pretty decent.

bamike 03-17-2018 07:08 AM

Is it a surface pro 3? The same ones that are selling for $800 new?

Nope. Just a surface 3. The one nobody bought at retail.

That's what I was thinking, hard to find something cheaper to do what it can do. Sans Delta software.

Farmlover 03-17-2018 11:00 AM

I'll keep mine for the kids. Not much cheaper out there.

I’m leaning that way but it will be hard after a couple drinks not to take it in the garage and take out some frustrations...

Eddyline Epic Day, Double IPA. Buena Vista, CO.

iaflyer 03-17-2018 05:29 PM

I think the Surface 3 that we have is a POS, but if you look at eBay, $175 isn't a bad price for it. Our have Cellular ability, which adds to the value for some.

Anyway - I'm not getting it, but the price isn't a ripoff either.

Dude, only one other airline out there was retarded enough to go with the Surface. Quit beating around the bush and call a SkyWest a SkyWest, everyone knows. Admitting is the first step!

Express Jet also use/used Surface. Don’t know if they still use them.

ExpressJet = wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest Inc.

I've flown with several pilots who bought their surface 2s and were very pleasantly surprised with how much better it was with the company crap off it.

I have a PRO 3 at home and it's a great machine. I suspect the non pro 3 will fall somewhere between adequate and decent once the company junk is off it.

My experience with the Surface2 I kept was the same. Once Delta was wiped off it, it was much faster and more stable.

The Airwatch Agent software they have on these things really hinders their capabilities. One downside I would say is that this surface doesn't come with Office installed as the previous one did. That made the Surface2 a much better deal than this time around at nearly twice the price.

Not sure if still available but, I got Microsoft Office from Delta Perks for 10$

Haha cool story brah...not sure what that has to do with any of this. Like someone else already pointed out ExpressJet has them too and don’t act like they are the same since they are are subsidiaries of Skywest Inc. regardless my post still stands as it is a decent piece of equipment without the jeppesson and company software on it. Of course it’s a poor machine for airline use, but that’s not what this thread is about.

Mesabah 03-19-2018 07:07 AM

Even the iPad runs better with the company software off it, the Jeppesen app is la crap.

You are often the funniest dude on this site.

But this has to be the funniest thing you've said.

Kudos.

duder 03-19-2018 02:20 PM

I kept my Surface 2 for the wife and kids and never had it payroll deducted or sent a bill. Works just fine for free. It does still have the Delta crap on it. Oh well. Just sayin' ;)

I think we can buy 1 copy per year. Great deal!

.

I have not found that to be true. I had last year's iPad PRO and now also have the brand new Company iPad PRO (current model) I think the Company iPad is snappier and more responsive than my 14 month old personal iPad PRO.

And from what I know about iOS, if any app is not running, it has no effect on the speed of other apps which are running.
