There is also the ever present danger of flat tire standbys and SDSC passengers. SDSC’s are same day confirms trying to go on a earlier flight. I have seen 15 on a LGA to ATL flight. Again however they free up seats on later flights.

That is what I was trying to say. If you look at the availability numbers on the first page they will exactly match the passenger count numbers in Icrew. The numbers will of course change at the gate and are subject to bigger fluctuations at hub city. The flight you want to East Bumfuc is over by 5 and the LAX flight with 10 connecting passengers is late. 5 available seats just showed up. Conversely the next flight to East Bumfuc which had 8 seats is now oversold by two.

Friends don’t let friends non-rev...especially with family on a vacation. Why even risk screwing up other reservations or adding unnecessary stress to what’s supposed to be relaxing time off? Last year my ps was $43,000...that buys a whole LOT of Fly Confirmed for even Less seats. We shouldn’t have any beef at all with HK’s, sdsb, or the code of the day bringing revenue pax through the system sucking up all the seats last minute....that’s why we are so profitable and have these big a$$ ps checks to begin with.
Buy a ticket, you’ve earned it & it makes the trip sooooo much more enjoyable.

I’ve commuted PBI-LGA, SEA-JFK, SEA-LAX, SEA-MSP, FLL-MEM & currently MCO-ATL, next year MCO-JFK until I retire. Non-rev benefits & commuting should never be used in the same sentence. That’s what Jumpseating is for. JS in uniform, comply with the commuting policy and call in honest if need be. I absolutely do not stress over getting to work. In 14 years of commuting I’ve had to call them twice. They got me a confirmed seat without question. They want & need us there far more than we do. Takes all the stress out of the equation. Our job has enough stressors, I try to mitigate them whenever possible.

Exactly. Last year took the fam to Europe twice. Both times Delta one. At 40K for all 4 of us on Delta one roundtrip per trip. I think I'll keep non reving.

I think you have to differentiate some between international and domestic non rev. If I'm taking the family down to MIA to catch a cruise I've booked in advance or some other travel-date-restricted event domestically I'm much more likely to buy a ticket.
