If DCI pilots were a problem, you’d know. There were probably about 800 to 1200 guys hired from Endeavor alone since 2014. Many more Skywest, Expressjet, Compass, etc guys have been hired. A few were sent back or fired but I have only heard of a handful of guys not getting through probation.

What base and equipment are you on? Every captain I fly with say ALL newhires have been great.

The only guy in my class that was cut loose was military. A slight lack of ability, leading to a huge attitude problem.

Worst guy I’ve flown with was a Navy F14 guy. Arrogant to the extreme, a jerk and couldn’t land a 73 at all.

Is that representative? No....it takes a professional to realize that.

Feel free to enjoy your pedestal though, I hope it’s not too lonely being so superior to everyone else..

It's just my experience, and I certainly don't judge an entire group of pilots by that. Actually, come to think about it, it was a check airman complaining about training them, and I'll leave it at that.

Clearly I hit a nerve. If you've flown with me, one thing you'd realize very quickly is that I don't sit on a pedestal. We are all a fraction of a second away from being humbled on a daily basis, in many different ways.

I’ve flown with a lot of new and recent hires the last few years. Almost without exception and regardless of background, they have been great pilots and awesome people to fly with.

In my class, we had 2 DC guys, one ignored the rules during ground school and had an awful attitude. The other dude was my sim parter, a total champion and great guy.

Oh well, interesting times ahead. I'm preparing for the next MOAB over here.

Fly safe.

Wow, what a ridiculous blanket statement. Flown with many LCA who have not had a bad thing to say about any DCI guys (nor military) unless it was the few Compass guys that came in with poor attitudes a few years ago.

TOTD...

I don’t think you struck a nerve as much as gained information from an outlying check airman. You made it sound like it was every captain you flew with initially, then you cleared that up by indicating it was a single check airman.

Most check airman will agree that a single seat fighter guy has the biggest bridge to cross entering the airline environment. Those guys typically need more IOE experience then a regional new hire.

Thankfully, the combined opinion of this singular check airman and yourself isn’t what Delta bases it’s hiring philosophy on.

What base and equipment are you on? Just curious, this sounds like the guy who demands a single engine taxi on the very first leg of IOE, whether a new hire or brand new captain upgrade.
Also requires you to touch his finger when pointing at the altitude selector for change verification. I laughed until I figured out it wasn’t a joke:)

Well, it appears that your Endeavor guy would be ready to bring onboard about 8-10 years before Uncle Sam is willing to part with one of his pilots of the same vintage. How much do you think 8 years of seniority is worth?

What’s your point? One guy choose the military and one guy choose to be an airline pilot.
