Default SILs and Extra RES day

The following categories are somehow so overmanned that the company is offering SILs to help with the glut, yet they aren't so overmanned as to even offer an extra RES day. Color me confused. Oh wait I'm not confused at all, just as the C44 FO report stated the SILs are just another way the company is using divide and conquer against the pilot group in order to trim costs at the overall expense of the pilot group. BTW please don't take this post wrong, if you were offered a SIL and took it that's 100% OK with me -- under certain circumstances I'd do the same thing. That said, don't be cross with me because I support our MEC if they take them down.

NYC: 320A, 320A

Sounds reasonable to me. We pull SILs down until the company agrees to increment through the extra x-day step before offering SILs in a category.

I don’t think pulling them down is the answer, but I like this Idea!!!

I’m confused. What do you mean by extra reserve day? You want to pick up another on call day?

Or are you talking the extra X day for having 20% reserves? If so then I agree the company should be doing this when offering an SIL in category.

However pulling down the whole program is A perfect example of throwing out the baby with the bath water.

All reserves go on 12 reserve days per month with 18 off days and 60 hours of pay monthly
Problem solved

I'm in one of these SIL categories. I'm also fairly junior in category and can't hold summer vacation. Why would they not also post additional desirable summer vacation weeks for vacation move-up bids if they are so overstaffed? I'd really like that as an option for one of my weeks (I only get two.)

20/20 hindsight, I know, but I think the company attorneys outmaneuvered ALPA in crafting this LOA language. Seems logical the extra reserve X day and additional vacation week postings should have been required before offering SILs(at least at such low value.). Add to that the loose language around "concurrence" and it's pretty one-sided.

I assume you mean an extra X day? If so, then I would partially agree with you. It seems logical that if they're offering SILs, then we should be getting the extra reserve day off. However, I'm not sure I view it as a "divide and conquer" type thing...at least I don't take it that way. If guys want SILs, have at it! I know a few that will likely make out like a bandit when the pick up a month of orders or simply just stay home for over 10k. I'll likely make out well by not working very much and still making a full months pay. I do however have another item on my list to send to my reps come contract time.

I didn't bid a SIL and I'll likely end up on reserve, but I don't agree with pulling down SILs. If they want MEMRAT for approving LOAs (which I agree with), lets do the same for pulling them down...

A friend of my cousin, who knows someone that delivered a pizza to the 4th floor on Friday overheard....

DALPA is engaging the company on SILs before making a knee jerk reaction and pulling them down. Topics of discussion include summer vacation move ups, additional summer vacation weeks, honoring RCC requests and adding the extra X day to reserves ALL BEFORE offering SILs in a category. SILs can work well for both pilots and the company if Delta gives consideration to the pilots, before taking advantage of the cost savings. Ultimately, it will be the company's response to DALPA's request that determines the fate of the SILs.

Also can’t change a bad four day for a better three day, because reserve cap. Thought we are over staffed?!?!
