Training Pay
#1
Ok, I haven’t researched this via the contract yet but thought I’d pick the brains of the collective.
Now the facts. First, as you all know by now, I’m Seattle based. Second, I’ve got recurrent training in January. Third, I’m scheduled for 2 E periods and as a matter of fact, all the training patterns for January had 2 E periods so I couldn’t bid for anything else.
Am I due any extra pay for the E periods, considering I’m Seattle based? Never done an E period and am not looking forward to it...

I think there was a little discussion over on fb about this and they said it was based on pilots base time which lead me to believe no extra pay for you... but that seems insane to me so I’m definitely looking forward to hearing from the experts.

Edit: I just took a look at it and the scheduled in the box sim time for an E period is 2230-0229. Based on Pacific time.............no soup for me.
Thanks for the reference

That’s correct, however the E period would trigger additional pay for a pilot based in MSP, DTW, CVG, NYC or ATL since the debriefing ends at 0259 ET. SLC pilots would miss out by 1 minute on the 0100 base time provision.
I think this is why all of the E periods seem to be in the training bid packages for LAX and SEA.

Your pay for sim training is determined by local base time. So it depends on what time zone your base is in. A while ago the company shortened the “in the box” time by a half an hour (I think) and added an F period.
