Rest Assignments
Has CS automated the rest assignment process? I am now getting assigned rest prior/into every XX/** day which didn't used to happen. As a follow-on, once assigned and acknowledged does anybody have any history of CS rescinding the assigned rest (contractually I don't see why they couldn't do it, just trying to get a feel for what's normally done).
Here is a hypothetical situation, assigned a 3 day trip and REST: TRIP TRIP TRIP (REST) ** (REST) RES RES RES Once assigned the trip/rest, move the ** day to now have this: TRIP TRIP TRIP (REST) RES (REST) RES RES XX Does anybody know if the computer or CS will recognize this technique and just remove the rest? |
Hello Han, 4 years of reserve now by choice. They did automate in a way. From what a scheduler said it’s a trigger they get every time someone gets within so many days of an Xday and can act on it or not depending on availability. I’ve never seen them give me rest with more than the min time to change an X-day, but if so, I would definitely give that a try. I have personally witnessed them give me rest, then have to GS cause of a pop up trip so I don’t think they can retroactively “un rest” you. But hey, all I know is I stayed at a holiday in last night.
Last reserve trip was in October.......living the dream my friend, long way from 12 hour days, sof, sup, vdo, cc calls at 5pm on a Friday after a 4vX and still having to debrief |

In a situation like my hypothetical I'm required to check my schedule within 30 minutes of block-in on the last leg of my TRIP so I assume they'd have up to that point to rescind it. |
Rest on an x day
If you have a 30 hour rest over an x day that ends early the next morning (think around 0100) can they still require you to check your schedule prior to 3pm in order to give you the only 10 hours lead call out coming off of an x day? Thanks all. Seems like that would negate the 30 hours rest if required to check schedule. Am I missing something?

The 10am/3pm carveout is a requirement on the company ... to have morning assignments done early enough for you to plan around them. It’s for your convenience. You are not required to check your schedule at 3pm...or ever on an xday |
OK, I am with you there, but can they give you a trip with less than 12 hours from the end of your 30 hour rest then? Because they did, I called and asked, and so far they said too bad it's your trip. Is that right?

Short answer: there is nothing illegal about the assignment from what you have said thus far. |
Thanks for the responses so far. I guess since they can't call me until 0100 from the end of the 30 hours rest, is it always a 10 hour call out or is that just for the first day? I guess I always thought long call was a 12 hour call out. Again, thanks for the quick replies all.
