HPI Uniforms and other options
I need a new jacket. I’ve read a lot of negative comments last year on the HPI jackets. Any changes? Does somebody with firsthand knowledge see a substantial difference between them and Abbotts? I had a “sharkskin” wool fabric M&H jacket that I was happy with, but M&H is no longer making Delta jackets...only selling out existing stock.
Any other options aside from HPI and Abbott? ...good quality. It looks like $100 price difference between the two...I’m happy to pay Abbott’s higher price if it’s worth it.

DYODD on Abbotts. A few years ago they quietly switched the suppliers of our uniforms and went with a foreign made line. The quality was noticeably lower than the "real" Navy Officer's jacket. 95% of the pilots who have Abbots have the older US made milspec jacket so be careful using their reviews as a basis for your purchasing decision unless you know for sure you will get a real US made milspec jacket.

The M and H uniform shop in MSP still has lots of jackets in both the Tropical and sharkskin. You will only need couple jackets in a career, unless you are an eater! Ive always been happy with them. They ship or will tailor if you wait.

I picked crew outfitters over Abbot's when I got hired, about two years ago. Crew outfitters had 100% wool pants and jackets and that's why I bought from them. It looks better in my opinion, and is also a more versatile fabric when it comes to temperature. I had them adjusted by their tailor so the fit is great. Abbot's was offering a synthetic mix, which was quite surprising considering the price point.
