They did hire some pilots via SSP without a degree as well but that seems to be a double whammy with no degree and turning down flow. I can understand being salty about it, but that would make it your own choices that brought you to where you are.

ASA did shut down. All the airplanes have been transferred to SkyWest (the AS and EV tail numbers if you care to check). The only reason there were no furloughs for the pilots is that the EpxressJet pilot groups was kind enough to agree with a pilot merger, and with the economy all pilots found other jobs either at ExpressJet or elsewhere. NewCo, which became Compass, existed before all pilots were recalled to NWA. The furloughs that went to Pinnacle, only lasted a few weeks before they decided not to. We had a few furloughs here at Mesaba, however, most were not able to work for the $20K/year, we were paying at the time.

The Comair fight over resigning seniority is interesting, in that management at Delta had control of Comair, and thus hiring. There is a whole bunch more to this story that we will probably never know.
