This is a voluntary program...but is it “volunteer” service when you get paid for it?

So a capt can get paid $1000 for a day, which is about $125/hr for unskilled “volunteer” work....seems pretty expensive to me.

While not quite “lighting the money on fire”, it does make me go....hmmm

Agree, it is the right thing to do, with Delta’s core principles and all, and there will be “benefits” accrued for being a “righteous business”....but still something seems out of sync to call it volunteer service and then want to get paid for it.

JMHO....not throwing ANY stones, just find it interesting to ponder

If someone subsequently donated that money to the same cause they were volunteering for though...

No disagreement from me....I’ll let you handicap the percentage of pilots that will do that

Or....they could just work the day at delta...make twice the money for the same “day”of work...get profit sharing and DC on top of it

Buy the “volunteers” at $10/hr....accomplish more “do good” for the same effort...win win win all the way around. Less fortunate “hiringlings” make money, tax revenues increase and a lot more work gets done

So many variables to consider...a lot of ways to skin the cat...some more efficient than others....still...I’m left pondering the meaning of “volunteer”

Uhhhhhhhh do you get profit sharing paid on that 3.5 hours........;)

Great Program. I got paid $907 last month for volunteer work I've done unpaid every summer. In the spirit of Delta's great gesture I'm donating my Give Back Pay to the organization I volunteer for. Couldn't be more proud to work for Delta

Dumb question:

When I go to the link in Deltanet, all I can do is drop a pin.
