I confess not to know all 14k+ pilots. But those I do know give me faith that most of us get it. Trip7 and his ilk are a significant minority IMHO.
Different philosophies exist regarding the strategy the union takes in its interactions with the company, with a couple of extremes: Moakism, which is not meant to be derogatory but emphasizes the concept of constructive engagement. A more extreme view of this strategy would be “surrender early and often”. This type of strategy did help craft a decent contract post 9/11 but was possible due to the south guys losing their pension. It works where we have very little leverage and our contract was good. On the other spectrum, we have the guys that want to burn and fight everything. A more moderate version would be the DPA guys. I find that most of us today to be relatively moderate in relation to these extremes. This is a good thing and honestly I’m proud of our group when I read most of the posts in this thread. Trip7 is an extreme example of one side of the fence. He started this thread to try and convince guys to “surrender” the JV violations, which in turn would enable the company to keep using these tactics “often” going forward. His philosophy is one of appeasement and his attempt to instigate disunification has done nothing of the sort. We are unified with DALPA Trip7, your desire for the pre 2015 union isn’t going to happen. Thanks for starting this thread. |

Exactly....honestly his rationale exists within a small group of pilots that I’m guessing are primarily based in Atlanta.

Would WestJet/Aeromexico trans-atlantic or trans-pacific flights with Delta pax count against theatre JVs currently?
And how sad is it that 20-something Scope fouls, grieved a while ago, are still being considered and the last big one was settled for almost nothing? We'll need not only Scope improvements at all levels, but real penalties when not honored to be spelled out in the PWA. |
