Easy...MCO. 😜 LATAM already flies to GRU from there. And could easily support expansion to other SA or TA destinations from there. Virgin, BA, Lufthansa all fly 747s in/out now.

About a month ago at Velvet, Bastian finally committed to saying they would reconfigure the LATAM 350s up to the current DL config starting Q4 2020, with EIS Q2/Q3 2021. A month previous to that at a training base meeting, they (senior management) still weren’t sure...unless something has changed in the last 3 weeks, that was the official word, and the 350 fleet manager has concurred that information...

Having subflleets especially in a small category is very difficult to manage. Just the fiasco of having bunks in only some MD11’s should be a warning to management.

When do the next 10 Latam A350s come online?

Read the Jan CR bulletin. It explains the hiring needed for the summer schedule and sim availability in great detail. It further states they plan 8 additional 350’s in the next 18 to 24 months. They require 15 more 350 crews for this summer not yet bid.

The latest ask Ed was very positive. This LATAM deal will be very good for us all.

8 means 2 in spring. 4 LATAM by end of 2020 and 2 more to follow following year.

I am optimistic but also realistic. From everything I read, this being the most recent; we are not going to see a massive uptick of flights on the Delta side.

You are looking at one component of a large deal. It opens up numerous opportunities for direct flights to South America and additional domestic capacity to feed those flights and LATAM’s flights. Most international flights require feed from both ends to be successful. This gives us that ability.
The article you reference simply discusses additional MIA flying. You might also find over the next few years that some of LATAM’s MIA flights migrate north.
In addition this will also provide more opportunity to balance widebody flying. If they know they can move a aircraft off Europe in the summer to SA in the winter and keep that airframe profitable all year network will be more receptive to additional seasonal transatlantic services.

4% growth as stated in that article also corresponds to what I’ve heard via company communications as well. 4% today is much larger growth than 4% 10 years ago.

The Bid D keeps getting bigger and better. Hope that it’s all realized that we will need a contract soon to keep the group happy and willing to be Uber productive.

I am being optimistic about this deal, and am hopeful for that this will bring a positive gain to the balance sheet. As analysts have stated, this deal will add much needed capacity for us to this region. I am hesitant to drink what you are drinking though based on our recent history of JV flying. Business wise this deal seems to really benefit our customers. From the pilot perspective, I am not sure how this will shake out.
