This has the potential to hurt UAL a lot. They have, as everyone is quick to point out, a lot of expensive WBs flying (already) low margin Pacific routes, and this isn’t going to help their case.

So bottom-line, post 9/11 capacity adjustments probably served NW well through SARSs.

I see United has suspended flights to China, citing "lack of demand".
"Other" airlines are offering free masks upon request and an assurance that planes are, like, totally swabbed downed with a virus killing antiseptic before every flight. I must assume that means every inch of every armrest, every seat belt, every tray table, and every lav with strength 100% alcohol.
