Default 23K Recovery

Effective immediately, Delta is making the following temporary adjustments to Section 23K. recovery obligation:
  • Pilots will need to be available for contact within the recovery window but will not be assigned a trip reporting within 12 hours from the notification call or the assignment call made within the recovery window (i.e. six-hour recovery window starting at the original schedule report time).
  • All other Section 23K. rules still apply.

Plain language for a newb?

If they canx a rotation, then you’re on the hook for a long call essentially? I swear I’m trying to read it line-by-line in the PWA but my brain can’t comprehend lawyer speak.

thanks.

Recovery window is still first 6 hours of the original trip, but instead of having to be promptly available (SC), you now won’t be assigned a trip less than 12 hours out (LC). If you don’t get assigned anything in the 6 hour recovery window, you are off the hook.

Check out page 44 of the Scheduling Reference Handbook. It does a good job of explaining it in plain language.

Question:

I’m long call RES. Was assigned a trip tomorrow, I’m still more than 12 hrs from report.
Now it says 23K.
Is that correct? I thought I reverted to LC?

Just so I understand. Had a rotation for MAR26 with a duty in at 1504 that showed up as NOOP.
Today it is now posted as 23k the company has until 2104 on MAR26 to assign me recovery flying and if they dont
i am then free from flying obligation?

Yes. And you now have 12 hours to get there for a trip if they call.
