Thus 730 cancellations in next 24 hours.
Only trips with open crew positions have been canceled.

Was just told by a scheduler that they are canceling flights instead of giving out green slips but they are filling with white slips.

That makes no sense at all from a cost standpoint not to mention that crew scheduling has zero input on which flights are canceled.

Yes, I had a call for 2 of about 12 trips available. I don’t know what criteria they are using to pick and choose but they are. I asked directly why trips are being offered as WSlast minute but not being offered up as GS. She said they are canceling if they can’t fill a plane with a crew and won’t use GS to do it.

Whats happening is that rotations are built and change rapidly. Crew scheduling is notified that flights are canceled however the rotations remain in open time because they are way behind in cleaning up the constantly changing rotations. They have a list of what is canceled and don’t cover them.

No argument on what you said. I did however speak directly to skeds and they told me point blank they are not allowed to GSWC. It would appear, by their actions that they are also looking at loads to determine whether or not to offer a GS or just let it cancel. I’m actually in favor of this.
