No one had to see the recovery coming as fast as it did. The government picked up the bill so airlines could keep their staffing for the ramp up. Maybe they should raise prices and cut some flights. I have never had my phone ring so much, 16 calls in less than 48 hours. Almost non-stop Arcos and inverse assignment calls. All day, all night sometimes. When does peak summer flying start? There is no way they are staffed for the flying they want to do. There will be massive cancellations.

To be fair, not many foresaw mRNA vaccines and the recovery being what it is. That said, the bread and butter for us are business flyers and they’re no where in sight yet. International is sparse to worse than sparse. 2 million leisure customers isn’t going to get us a 16% profit sharing check, if any at all.
But they did F-up in doing the MOAB before the VEOP. They will never apologize. In fact I think the brainchild of that got a promotion.

The VEOP before the MOAD from our perspective and in hindsight was a mistake. If we look at it from managements side, with the information at the time, it was the right move. How better to get a bunch of senior, top pay tier, guys to retire then to displace a bunch of them. It did what they wanted it to, it cut almost 2000 top pay scale pilots and put some lower, less than 12 year pilots, in captain seats.

I still maintain it was not the VEOP after the MOAB, but the furlough games upper management insisted on continuing after 1,806 took the early out.
Had we done MOAD>VEOP> large bid to place all 2,558 back in a category around sept2020, we would likely have finished training that bid in March/April and been in a position to hire earlier this month like UAL

Pretty much the crux of the matter
So here we are now.....a buddy of mine is doing 330B school right now (displaced off the 88). got awarded 7ER A on last bid. So he'll finish 330 school then I guess IOE/TOE, then go to school for the ER. What a thrash. Could have been avoided.
