So does furlough pay extend past oct 1st or do they only need to pay for a set number of months after the notification goes out?

Any guess on whether we will get the 1-2 month deal for “issues beyond company control”

so if I understand correctly someone hired in nov 16 would get either 2 or 3 months or paid either till the end of October or the end of November?

Furloughs don’t start until 10/1 if at all. It amazes me that some people think they were furloughed today, 7/1, when the letter clearly states the company’s intent to furlough on 10/1.

So, furlough pay starts 10/1 and runs for the duration the PWA allows or the company unilaterally decides to implement.

I'm wondering if they are going to claim Force Majeure and not pay furlough pay, and make ALPA duke it out in court over it.

Well blowing $Bs on buybacks, and equity stakes in now bankrupt third world airlines (whose countries have a great track record of "screw the gringo" to boot) wasn't beyond their control.

That's BS it's beyond their control. They have CHOSEN to not go after certain types of passengers or destinations. They have chosen to stick to this ridiculous 60% load factor to appease noon existent business travelers. They have chosen to have fewer parked RJs than mainline aircraft.

And they have so far chosen not to take the government loan money they have applied and been approved for. There are so many holes in their plan to furlough it makes the Titanic look unsinkable.

If they choose not to take the loan $, and still furlough a single pilot, I hope ALPA never, ever misses an opportunity to scream from the rooftops or airwaves about it. For decades.

True, imagine if they implemented sil's since April. Clearly there isn't anything they could do. JL's statement in the ER email was telling. In one paragraph the success of reaching an ER agreement, followed in the next with. It doesn't matter anyway because we are still going to need to furlough 2500 pilots. Seems to me there is plenty in their control. Also to try to get out of 2 months or furlough pay for the senior UNA speaks volumes for how they value this pilot group.
