There is a risk here though; if you don’t get bought off, then you’re stuck flying the red eye. I wouldn’t recommend bidding for anything that one wouldn’t want to fly themselves if they don’t get bought off. Some people don’t mind red eyes, others can’t stand them. Just something to consider.

Have they gone back to releasing FO the evening prior? Now that NYC short call is back on and commuting positive space is gone, seems like night prior release should be back too. If not we need to start hounding our reps to make it an issue of concern.
Didn’t commuting positive space get extended to 31 Jul? |

Not in my experience. I had a trip last week get bought off. I didn’t get released until report time.

A post this morning on the faceplace said scheduling has unilaterally made a change. They're not releasing you until the LCA calls and verifies that all flying pilots are in the originating base. Although rare, I would occasionally had to show up to the airport before being release when I was still on the 737. That said, it not the norm...it sounds like this change will now be the norm. Of course, take it for what it's worth...a random FB post. |

until they need us to pick up that ws/gs. Reserve coverage obviously not an issue right now.
Lol, right. We don't get bought off LCA trips on my fleet so I've been out of the loop on the goings on wrt LCA trips. The post caught my eye as it's a bit ridiculous, as always if it ain't in the PWA... Anyway, I picked my displacement aircraft so I could be as senior as possible with hopes of bidding with LCA...need to relearn this game. |

Good, I’m glad. When I read the first post suggesting it, I was like, “that’s f$&@in’ crazy”, lol. I didn’t think he was serious until the replies, and then I thought, maybe he is? Maybe it actually is something guys do on different fleets like the ER? I wouldn’t know, I’m on the 73 and hate red eyes. Glad to hear it wasn’t serious, and it just went over my head. And yes, recycling now with the flash.
Haha, no worries. I’ve been guilty of it. Guard police...out |
