So for clarification’s sake, if one were to hypothetically drop NYC220 in indoc, when is the soonest they could get to another base that doesn’t have the 220? 1 year?

Valid! I didn’t dig in to the definitions initially but you are absolutely correct. Seat locked in to equipment but not base.

From the PWA: A pilot who is in the last 12 months of such category freeze may be awarded an AE or VD to another base for which qualification training is required if he is unable to be awarded an AE or VD to such base in his current position in a given posting. In such event, the balance of his existing category freeze will be added to the category freeze resulting from the new position award.

So can't even bid until your 12 month point, but then depending on the length of the AE conversion window, could be another 6 to 12 months until you finally convert.

I’m still confused on how the edv guys got an AE award when they haven’t even started yet. That’s a great deal for them. Guess they won’t take anything in their new hire class drop?

EDV folks were “hired” and got a class drop 3 months ago. September “hires” will be in class November with 3 months of seniority… October in the December class, November in the January class, etc. EDV pilots that have been hired but not yet trained are eligible to bid on AEs.

So, EDV pilots are given seniority dates while still working at Endeavor? So people that as a military pilot, you can show up to class and potentially have dozens of pilots that are not even on property yet that are senior to you?

That's pretty messed up.

That's pretty messed up.

Or look at it the other way. You are at EDV and eligible to flow today, but Delta decides to hold you at EDV for a few months to keep staffing up there. Sucks to be you losing 3 months and 200+ numbers over something completely out of your hands. It's not fair or unfair either way, it's just how it is.

And I don't know why you singled out just military pilots. Literally every pilot who started class after the EDV guys were put on the list are in the same boat.

And honestly the end result is still the same, because if Delta didn't delay the EDV pilot's actual indoc dates then they would already be on property and still on the seniority list in the exact same spot.
