Remember though, the ULR only has 163 seats and a deactivated fwd cargo compartment. That's a long ways away from our current 306 pax config with both cargo compartments available.

I know, that’s why I made my comment. If airbus would make an -900 length variant that had the same wing, landing gear, engines, and MTOW as the -1000, it would be able to take a full pax load (~300) on 17+ Block hr flights.

Airbus would say “buy the -1000”. Qantas seems to think it’ll do LHR-SYD nonstop.

according to Wikipedia,
the -900 range is 8,100nmi
the -1000 range is 8,700 nmi
the 777-200LR flew ATL-BOM at 8,510nmi

i wonder if either airbus variant can actually do those distances with a full payload.

im an idiot, ATL-BOM is 8,510 statute miles not nmi. It’s 7,400 nm. Kinda makes those airbus ranges not very believable
