Default More 330s?

Some rumblings of another aircraft acquisition soon. Possibly some 330s. Not sure new or used. 737max still being whispered about as well.

Same info from top men who alerted me to our 350/73 used deal.

Carry-on

Doesn’t matter, the current trip quality paired with the loss today has morale lower than I’ve seen in a long time. This is nice, but doesn’t change the mood of many even an inch.

We could start flying to the Middle East soon. In August. With limited info on what the work rules will be. Then again, the taliban could get involved and slow down the flow substantially while a pilot sits in a German or Qatari hotel for a few weeks. Does that cheer anyone up?

Edit- more 330’s would be very nice, especially if they aren’t replacing the 75/76

I hope it's for about 60 of them delivered tomorrow. That should get us close to where we should be

Scroll through the A330 order book and it should be obvious that Delta can get the airframes new from Airbus at very deep discounts. We are essentially the only real customer. AirAsia X is in deep financial trouble and may never get a single airframe. The rest of the 300 orders are mostly smoke and mirrors and also may never be delivered. Airbus needed about 1000 orders at this point and might have 80 real orders. The big question is will the A330-900 program survive at all.

Good points - Iran Air (28) and Air Asia X (78) both have orders that are suspect.

If we can get lots of them at low prices, great. It's combining Richard Anderson (cheap airplanes) with Ed (new planes) - bi-winning!

I would guess if we can get them at low enough prices, that's our 7ER replacement. Yes, they are bigger than the ER but if the price is low enough, it won't matter. We could use the 350 for long-range flying that we would of used the 787 for - it doesn't seem like the company likes ultra-long haul flying anyway.

Also showed up on DeltaNet and press releases. Guess the Max isn't in the picture much.

https://news.delta.com/delta-continu...irbus-a321neos

"Delta is converting purchase rights for the aircraft into firm orders under its existing A321neo purchase agreement with Airbus. It follows a similar transaction in April, when Delta and Airbus converted 25 A321neo purchase rights into firm orders and added 25 incremental A321neo options.

Delta operates 121 of the larger gauge A321ceo family, and with the incremental A321neos announced today has purchase commitments of 155 firm A321neo, in addition to six remaining A321ceo deliveries. Delta has purchase rights for an additional 70 A321neos. These purchase commitments look ahead to Delta’s future needs, supporting replacement of older, less fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft. In total, Delta now has 288 aircraft purchase commitments, including both widebody and narrowbody jets."
