Default DCA Shuttle Flying

All of a sudden tonight a whole bunch of LGA-DCA Shuttle flying got dumped into NYC 320 open time for February. Anyone know what’s going on or why? Are we upgauging from RJs due to demand? Is YX barfing the capacity back on mainline because they can’t staff it?

Whole bunch of highly commutable three days(1800 report 1300 release)…..

Just a WAG but I would assume it’s dispatch reliability with 175’s into DCA with 5G notams.

Is it possible for delta to absorb a majority of its regional flying? Put the 175 into mainline service? Delta has payscales for the 175 correct?

I commute out of DCA. Those flights are rarely even half full. It’s definitely not for demand.

Been seeing more mainline operating LGA-BOS too, 220 and 737. Regionals can’t handle the flying they have, both Endeavor and Skywest have reduced hours in Feb/March as I understand.

BOS-LGA has been heavy mainline for a while. It may have downsized over Covid, haven’t been to LGA in a hot minute, but it was 717 pre-Covid and I think 88s before that.

I know LGA-ORD was fully mainline for a while, but I was less sure about BOS. Been seeing the 220 taking over more and more long RJ stuff, as well other fleets here and there.

It’s to keep the limited volume time slots and prevent other airlines from getting into DCA and LGA.
They gotta fly it or lose it and the Covid exemptions ended.

Yes, this is true. Question is around why last minute schedule change, and why not YX flying it as was originally scheduled?

Or, are you saying these are added sections they are running to keep the slot allocations?

My guess is YX can’t staff it. Skywest handed back flying for the spring they signed up for and subsequently can’t fulfill.
