Delta Dental is telling me that if I switch from comprehensive to Pilots plan, I will lose the remainder of that benefit. Does that sound right? My understanding is both plans are Delta Dental, just different options. I like the Pilots dental plan, but don't want to eat that $800 orthodontic benefit....Thanks in advance if anyone knows about this!!

And that is probably a good thing. They are so far removed from reality sitting at the top of their categories that they have forgotten what it is like to be junior, much less new. Heck, we had uber senior Captains who didn't even know we still had furloughed pilots back in 2005-2006 time frame. "We do? I thought they were all called back."

My favorite was the Capt that a) thought the 220 was an RJ flown by Endeavor and b) didn't know Endeavor was wholly owned by Delta.

I just finished the FLTOPS skyhub. I couldn't help laughing when my wife watching with me said: "how does he do it?" So of course I ask what?

That's RG the guy infamous for the optimizer that ruined trips and schedules, and was the reason you decided to just bid reserve.

Yup...?

The trips were all 5 days and were so bad you were getting rerouted every time you went to work and never went where you bid. (I used to bid layovers where our families lived)

Ya...?

He got his big promotion because of the "efficiencies" he uncovered by doing that, right? (efficiencies - in her sarcastic tone ussually reserved for my screwups)

Yeah, that's how I figured he got on the short list for promotion. What are getting at?

He's taking credit for his "team" shortening trips and creating better rotations like it's some new idea that has resulted in all this reliability. (team - in the sarcastic tone again)

You're right, and I love that you recognized that before I did.

The irony of his underlings dismantling his crowning achievement at Delta just made us both smile and reflect on my years flying Delta passengers at both a connection and mainline. There are so many moments that were glossed over by management over the years that we forgot. We had a few good "family" reminiscences about Delta, our challenging adopted "family" member we tried our best with over the years. Like our other teenagers, Delta never seems to correlate it's actions with future consequences. To the rest of the family... Delta is grounded until Dad gets home and we all have a talk.

For those of us who haven't watched it....don't. Here's a summary.

"Everything is on scheudle! Everything is great! Pay transparency improvements will be here in Q4 2025! We're doing great!!"

At least they left time for ONE question at the very end...and of course, it was a throwaway question about how long the 767s will stay around, or some similarly useless pabulum. What an epic waste of time. They treat us like we're third graders. It's clear these management clowns were hired for their qualities as empty suits without the slightest inclination for self-reflection or self-awareness. Flight ops is a joke.

Which domestic fleet has a legitimate number of short trips? By legitimate, I mean a sufficient spread of such trips throughout the month that are suitable for constructing a line of them.

Every bid packet has the % of trips by trip length for every fleet. Changes quite a bit from month to month, so keep that in mind. For many BES, even 10% in seat may not be sufficient to hold a line of day trips. I looked at bidding back to NB B, but even at 8%, I couldn't guarantee that I could consistently hold a line of day turns. Wild. We definitely need better trip mix protections.

This cannot be overstated. There is virtually zero chance of anyone “constructing a line of them” if you are not in the top 10, maybe 20 pilots in category.

Look at various wide reports, even at 10% in category, outside of Christmas Day, you’d be lucky be able to get one in the initial bid. They are almost all taken by top-page pilots.

Dropping your schedule (different topic) and rebuilding it with 1-day trips via broken trips/proffered WS might be doable sometimes. Just realize the sweet proffered WS tend to get gobbled up by senior bidders.

My cat had 5 lines of pure day trips, so not even the first page but half the first page. I will never see a line of day trips again.
