Pilots spreading management propaganda
There is a certain management mouthpiece who is tripping all over himself as he tries to sell the loss of payback days that management wants over on the FB page as a good thing. If management wants this fixed they could certainly hire more. Expect more propaganda as this process continues.

Seriously anyone thinking that giving up PB days is even worth discussing is living in the dark. PB days are one of the best things we have. No way will it pass.

I don’t think we should give up payback days….but you are kidding yourself. This is only a reserve pilot issue. Yes…I understand if they go away some pilots will bid lines vs reserve…..but I still say it is not a line in the sand issue.
PB days & rolling thunder exist at the discretion of Flight Ops via Crew Resources. They can fix “the problem” by staffing affected categories properly. End of story. |

Reserves flying GS and receiving PB days results in lineholders being called for more GS of their own. There are also pilots who might not choose to bid reserve if the PB day arrangement were not there, and that makes the lineholders in the bottom half of any category effectively more junior lineholders as reserve lines become more of a junior pilot thing to bid. It all affects staffing significantly. |
When you have pilots using the current GS/PB rules to get 400-500 hours credit per month, it’s not surprising the company wants to change those rules.
