Since we’re learning new things about the Airbus on a mostly anonymous forum:

you can do a preselect, of course, but that only works for things like the SLC 230kts limit. You can build a downrange speed restriction, but that’s kinda wonky and sets you up for errors.

Pulling for selected is pretty much the best way. Like so many Airbus things, the why is probably buried in some fight among designers 30 years ago and decades of inertia since.

This has always been a question I've had as well. As automated as Airbuses are, the lack of this simple function along with having to manually push for a managed descent for an altitude constraint are decidedly glaring omissions in its capabilities. Minor, first world problems in my opinion but still kinda "WTF?". Still love the jet though.

Might minimize the "loss" of ATC messages. 😁

Holy hell, who cares about having to push ONE button that you don’t in the Boeing??? Is burning those 0.0000069 calories from pushing into the FCU really that exhausting? It’s not like we’re seeing waves of busts and near-misses from people forgetting to start down. And many Boeing pilots opt to hit DES NOW, then EXEC….which does the same thing…and uses (gasp) two button pushes!

Agreed and having flown both, it's no big deal really. But hey, I guess it gives the APC hounds some red meat to fight over. I say lets toss some gas on that fire. I'll start - GSmini is for girls and Airbii suck to land in Xwinds!!!

They fixed the formula on the Panda for GS mini. It's actually a really nice feature for guys that only get a landing or two a month.

and...

What's a crosswind? I haven't seen one in a year or more. (Another function of 1-2 landings/month)

I also know guys that haven't de-iced in 2 or 3 years.

The difference is that the 737 will start down if you forget or choose not to push a button. What will the Airbii do in those situations…File an ASAP on your behalf?

Nah you got to trackball, submenu 4 under DELTA MESSAGES. Might be on the center display, can't remember... Anyway It does auto populate the flight # etc then you get to type in the rest But in other countries you don't get all the ridiculous multi corssing restrictions we get here.

There its 10+ mile finals constant descents. ATC works the spacing very fine, everyone flying assigned speed, seems to work out nicely. Can't figure out what the issue here in USA is. Nothing like coming back to DTW from a 12+ hour flight and get slammed behind an RJ flown by sky pest doing FAS at 8nm out. Nice job there ATC, nice job Sky pest. "Delta 158 Hvy go around".

Yes I know the difference I’ve flown both. My post still stands.
