MSP forecast
What is the common knowledge amongst the current pilot group RE: MSP seniority? It seems logical that there are a lot of former NWA guys retiring soonish that will make MSP flip from VERY senior to fairly junior.

No....lots of nw guys took the early out and its still very senior. Unless Delta decides one day to add a bunch of flying, msp will always be senior unfortunately. With all the movement it doesn't take long to get msp based but your movement is much slower compared to every other base.

An entire MSP HQ’d airline seniority list got flowed into DL 6-8 years ago. MSP will remain senior.

MSP has been migrating more junior since the merger in 2008. I have better seniority in MSP as a 320a compared to ATL or DTW. NYC is always the most junior. But MSP is slowly becoming more junior in the past 14 years since the merger and the trend continues.

^^^^^This right here. It’s not as senior as people think. And the best part, as a commuter, most pilots (At least on the A320) are locals so commutable trips aren’t their first priority. I live closer to DTW, but couldn’t hold it when I got MSP, but now, I’m afraid to bid DTW because it will be harder to get commutable trips.

IMO MSP will follow the path of the West Coast bases(LAX/SEA), extremely senior at first then eventually over time becoming junior. Not long ago 8 years seniority was required to hold LAX as an FO. Now 2 years and you can be an ER Captain one sickout away from a trip to Tahiti. Brave New World
