Is there a fee for checking a surfboard while nonreving? When I was a teenager I got charged an arm and a leg so I’ve avoided it since then but I was hoping the rules have changed. Tag-along question, how about snowboards?
Thanks

I know there isn’t one for golf clubs as a nonrev or on confirmed for less tickets. Since they are special items as well I’d assume that the same applies to the boards.

This week I flew on a confirmed ticket with 4 boards in 1 bag and asked about nonrev was told there wouldn’t be a fee. On the confirmed ticket I was charged $100 on the outbound leg and the agent put it in as less than 72” on the return leg for no fee.

They are allowed, and I frequently nonrev with one.

Edit: Yes, it’s free.

They dinged my board so bad. Crushed the fish tail and had to spend a couple hundred to have someone put it back together. A buddy used fitted foam blocks for the nose and back and he says he never gets dings. Food for thought
I guess there is always a cost lol

How about bringing it when operating? Is it possible?

that, removing fins, and pool noodles and flat styrofoam (save it from your TV or appliance purchases) on deck/bottom is as good as you can ever do.
