Something no one is talking about…

All of these QOL improvements will require more pilots to operate the same schedule. More CA upgrades. More FOs needing to be hired. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Delta continue to hire 200+ /month through summer 2023 and hire 1500-2000 in 2023.

the latest I’ve heard is 200ish/mo until summer ‘23 then back to around 100/mo the rest of the year. But I agree, if this passes they will have to carry a larger list as their current red-lining plans just don’t have enough pilots to cover it all.

May I humbly suggest (as I’m not Delta) that the new pay-banding will create less training churn and the need for less pilots.

then you have to add back pilots due to more vacation, rotation construction improvements (if they actually exist), et al. The pay banding isn’t the only thing that impacts staffing in the new agreement.

You are correct. It will also be important for us to find out if they have made changes to the seat lock provisions.

That would be a great trade for pay banding

Fwiw the training department is telling SLIs to plan on flying in the summer.

Half of the year I don't get hit the GS trigger, so I never fly a GS. Premium Open Time may get me off the couch if it doesn't require a min credit trigger. If there are others in that same situation it could impact pilot staffing by getting low timers to pick up open time. The hour hoes gonna hoe regardless, Premium Open Time may provide incentive for the lower time fliers.

Paybanding training slowdown effects are going to take awhile to materialize. Now that we know (or will know) the new paybands and work rules, a lot of people may now make a last jump to optimize their seniority. Bidding choices for when they send you to training is also going to re-incentivize fence sitters to make a move now that they can plan for it.

Only if the language is rock solid. Vacation does push the requirement up but everything else is subject to the language and how the company applies it.
