Fair enough. I wouldn't call it a need but rather an exercise in opportunity. All I really want out of this discussion is for people to truly understand the exceedingly high value PBs have. So much so that they are under attack, subtly now but directly during negotiations. I will assume you understand how my reserve bid and my PBs benefit your schedule flexibility and ability to pick up premium trips (or straight time trips if you choose) which will be diminished by the new TA. There are minuses if not concessions.

What does he or anyone else expect. Again, find me one pilot on this property that would start a business where people they hire were allowed to use loopholes like this to take months off with full pay. Would you run a business that way? Be honest.

Yes, I would. Probably well enough to pay my employees $1.5B in shared profits to encourage them to keep up the good work.

So the logic on APC is..............

Some people are multi millionaires in America therefor, all Americans are multi millionaires or are ignorant if they are not.

Is that about the sum of it?

My logic is closer to true because all people could be multi millionaires....not ALL pilots can bid reservere every month.

Don't forget that PB days create more premium through the month as reserves are not available. It's a cycle that benefits everyone. This will go away as GS dries up for reserve

Not forgotten. It’s a cycle that benefits some but not all, just like a reduction in PB days. Anyone who thinks any status quo or any change is universally good or bad for 15,000 pilots isn’t paying attention.

Fewer reserves available also reduces blue days, reduces PDs/APDs/IVDs, increases reserve utilization, increases reroutes and can even reduce rotation quality. If reserve GS dries up, reserve may go more junior and improve the relative reserve seniority. The new paradigm will play out differently category by category, and all of this will ebb and flow as people play the new game differently, as our supply/demand fluctuates and as the demographics of our profession continue to change.

There is no free lunch*

*although you’ll get more free crew meals after the TA is implemented

Anyone can do rolling thunder. Tell your junior FO to bid the end of the month off on reserve. I think a lot of pilots don’t know how you use one of the best deals in our current contract for pay and time off with PB days.

Your junior FO can’t, they are getting coverage awards. But it’s your agenda, tell it like you want (you will anyway, which your usual slant).

If the new system passes, it forces pilots that want to make extra money to fly the line. You can YS SC on reserve and make a little extra if they don’t use you. The flying one trip on reserve and making over 100 hours and getting PB days will be gone. This is easy to do. Why put in a huge concession in this contract? I would vote yes if SS and VAS were removed.

And what fairy tale category are you flying only 1 trip on reserve and making 100 hours?

A ton on pilots can do this under the current contract. It’s not that hard. As someone posted above, it’s sad the junior guys will never get to experience PB days and the great QOL it brings.

FYI my son knows the sacrifices I made and how seniority works. …. my first job paid $19,000 a year with a nice 11 days off a month.

Again, I love how you say it’s not that hard and you have been a WB B since BEFORE the optimizer. I don’t think you know what you are talking about WRT a majority of the pilots at this airline (NB).
