Had an illustration run for curioutisty, and running the math some taxes could be avoided, but capital gains in a brokerage, without a 2.5% load... I'll just say "ehh". I've made my decision at this point and will save on taxes either way.

I'm with you; not looking for any additional insurance, and my investment strategy is fairly solid for my personal situation.

The thing the GVUL gives ME is the reduction in imputed income. Period. I'll probably never use it as an investment vehicle, but the fact that the premiums are paid by DL and the imputed income at my age is MUCH lower on the GVUL, it's a no-brainer move for me. Keep the same contractual insurance coverage and save on imputed income...win, even without the investment side.

How does ALPA get revenue from imputed tax?

It’s not income.

The Engage podcast clearly stated ALPA doesn’t see a dime either way from our decision to use GVUL, or not.

He is confusing GVUL and MBCBP. No surprise, he stopped reading after he found out he didn’t get his min balance.

Does ALPA consider imputed income as part of your income for calculating dues? ~shrug???

Finding the same. Clicked the link and followed the steps in the email. When I get to "My Accounts" as instructed in the email I have a tile for a Dental PPO Policy from 2019 (cancelled) and one for Auto and Home Insurance (which I don't nor have I ever had through MetLife) but no tile for Life Insurance like it states in the email. Very confusing.

GogglesPisano 11-27-2023 01:43 PM

So, the rollout is happening as expected.

You’re both getting father than me. I get a technical difficulties pop up. My question is when did Met Life outsource their IT to Delta?

So unexpected, as everything else with the new PWA has rolled out without a hitch. /s

Glad I'm not alone on this! Same for me yesterday, got the email, clicked on the authentication link, got the Ping authentication, then....nada.

I was using the Safari browser on my company tablet. Anyone have luck using Chrome or Edge?

notEnuf 11-28-2023 07:26 AM

Did mine today on the iPad. No problems but they make you go through the motions on the investment elections.

GogglesPisano 11-28-2023 08:20 AM

It took me over an hour. Very clunky process. Lots of steering towards the investment elections (it's still saying my "enrollment is not complete.") No way to select additonal coverarage. I had to fish around for a confirmation page.

Definitely not ready for prime-time. But not surprising.

I selected additional coverage, via Benefits Direct, during open enrollment and have completed my EOI exam.

I selected additonal as well during OE. What was disconcerting was that I didn't see nor could I select it on the MetLife website. Only after I fished around for a confirmation page could i see it.

Nothing here either.

freezingflyboy 11-28-2023 10:12 AM

Update: I went back and fussed with again today. The process worked as described in the email. You select how much you want to contribute to the investment portion or you select to decline investment. Even if you select to decline investment portion you are still forced to make elections. Enter beneficiary info and acknowledge the legal mumbo jumbo and you're done.

When you choose "Decline to invest at this time" right below it it tells you that you still have to select investment choices even though not actually investing, then it sends you on your way. Very easy process, took less than 10 minutes.

Since they make it really hard to find, here are the expense ratios for the investment funds:
  • American Funds Insurance Series New World Fund Class 1 Shares (213): 0.57%

  • Brighthouse Funds Trust I Brighthouse/Wellington Large Cap Research Portfolio (217): 0.54%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust I Invesco Global Equity Portfolio Class A (220): 0.58%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust I Loomis Sayles Growth Portfolio Class A (218): 0.57%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II BlackRock Capital Appreciation Portfolio (223): 0.63%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II BlackRock Ultra-Short Term Bond Portfolio (224): 0.36%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MetLife Aggregate Bond Index Portfolio (221): 0.27%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MetLife Mid Cap Stock Index Portfolio (225): 0.29%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MetLife MSCI EAFE® Index Portfolio (229): 0.38%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MetLife Russell 2000® Index Portfolio (148): 0.31%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MetLife Stock Index Portfolio (226): 0.26%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MFS Total Return Portfolio (227): 0.60%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II MFS Value Portfolio (228): 0.56%
  • Brighthouse Funds Trust II Western Asset Management Strategic Bond Opportunities Portfolio (239): 0.55%
  • Fidelity® Variable Insurance Products Freedom 2020 Portfolio Initial Class Shares (096): 0.48%
  • Fidelity® Variable Insurance Products Freedom 2030 Portfolio Initial Class Shares (097): 0.54%
  • Fidelity® Variable Insurance Products Freedom 2040 Portfolio IC (233): 0.63%
  • Fidelity® Variable Insurance Products Freedom 2050 Portfolio IC (234): 0.63%
  • T. Rowe Price Fixed Income Series Inc. Limited-Term Bond Portfolio Class A (110): 0.50%

There's nothing too extreme, but nothing really exciting either.

Is the website making anyone else print off, sign, and mail in an enrollment form to finish?

I just e-signed at the end of the process to complete it. You can then save a pdf of the whole package if you desire but I saw no requirement to print or mail anything.

Completed actions and saved summary package two days ago. Went back in today to check on a detail and I still have an alert and action required banner at the top of my profile page. Anyone else who has completed signup have the same experience?

When I clicked on the alert banner it took me to the beginning of the signup process. That is definitely not right.

I'm getting the same thing. It's frustrating!

Yep, did the same. Only took 10-15 mins.

I upped my coverage to the max this year, does anyone know how they notify you of the requirement to do an EOI, do they send an email about that?
