I’ve been trying to come up with an answer but I can’t, so I’ll ask here…legit asking…
Why do people need to know the exact date the paycheck is paying out? I have nothing in my financial life that is that time critical so I couldn’t care less which day during the “week of the 20th” it pays out, but I assume based on how many people are losing their mind not knowing, there just be some very important reason.

It’s physiological dead space. You know it’s happening, don’t know exactly when or how, but will be done by Friday. The spot between 8am on Monday (week of the 20th) until Friday at 5 Mecca time is too much unknown. Much like AE results, PBS results every month, etc. Type A personalities cannot handle unknowns. As pilots, we are all guilty. Whether we don’t need the money, know we have vacation over needed dates, etc. Ya gotta know what you can verify.
