I served. My dad and uncle served in Vietnam, My grandfather served in two wars. As someone else said….Memorial day has zero effect on my bidding behavior. I’m a Christian, but I don’t bid Easter off either.

An APD request may be denied regardless of the number of reserves available during the period commencing two days before and ending one day after the following:

1) New Year’s Day
2) Super Bowl Sunday
3) Good Friday
4) Easter
5) Memorial Day
6) Independence Day
7) Labor Day
8) Thanksgiving Day
9) Christmas Day

Holiday Pay

A pilot who operates a rotation that touches one of the following holidays will receive additional ADG pay, no credit (in addition to any other form of pay) for each such day:

New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day

The APD/IVD list encompasses 2 days before (and one day after), so the “Eve’s” are already included.

Yes we have 36 days where we can/will be denied APDs and 7 days we get holiday pay. Better than nothing but…

While I appreciate the sentiment, I am 1 for 1 on APDs being approved in a holiday blackout period.

Small sample size, but don’t assume you won’t get it, give it a shot.
