All NBs are junior at the bottom. Even in the bottom 30%-ish. It’s getting above that that’ll be the question. And that we will figure out more probably after this bid. There’s been over 1000 pilots hired since the last bid.

The very bottom is all pretty similar, but the distribution above that varies. Check out widgetseniority.com. It’s run by a retired Delta pilot and he gives free access to NH’s and prospective hires. You can compare distribution across categories to get a feel.

I am currently 70% on the 220 in NYC. My seniority would be better on every other fleet except the 330.

765: 60%
7ER: 58%
320: 40%
737: 22%

do you know how long to hold 330? Is it senior or junior?

nyc330 has been going to new hires out of class for about half a year now. You can get it on any bid as multiple have gone now unbid.

only way this doesn’t happen is the new paybanding making it senior or seat locks coming off. But it is NYC so wouldn’t surprise me if it’s still left with unbid positions

It’ll be interesting to see how many folks have FOMO over not having a widebody spot currently. I know a few guys now who are going to basically bid every 330/350 position to make sure they get one before it goes super senior. My prediction is not only will NYC330 go senior, I think it’ll be like 12,000 number and lower (as in more senior). I may be wrong but all the other 330 bases will be crazy senior so I see NYC following suit. In other words, new hires will be back to the NB only bids moving forward. I just see too many FOMO pilots who are anxious to try the 330 after their seat lock release. I bet it’ll go back to 4-5 years to hold the 330 like it was a few years ago.

And take a paycut? I don't think so.. the NB are getting a a number of "raises" through improved PWA protections. Sit pay, holiday pay, pay for the 0000-0200 carveout. Increased reroute pay. GS galore. Yes, WBB has a better QOL overall, but for pay, I still think the NB FO position will far and away pay more than a widebody FO for the foreseeable future.

i hope so! I love how junior folks can have the option of wide bodies right now. It’s exciting for sure I just don’t know how realistic it will be for the 330 specifically to reach new hires. Those trips are insanely good and the pay is what NBAs used to get a couple years ago. IMO that 330 is gonna be hard to get so grab it while you can is all I’m sayin

One thing we’ve got going for us is a continued number of widebody deliveries, I want to say around 12 per year with no retirements as far as I know.

And WB trips are not insanely good, there’s a huge number of 6-7 day trips, consistently left unbid.
