Wow, hadn't heard of this one. Do you know if his sched got posted anywhere? Would love to see it....

Do you know/recall how many PBs it took to do that??

Nope--WS limit sets & resets itself in real time as stuff gets added/dropped from your line.

IIRC it was 65+ PB days

Good to know, learn something new every day. I almost never bid a line, so there you go...

Using PB days is pay and credit, so you will hit the limit if using multiple days. Another way around the pickup limit is swapping one trip for two trips since the only swap constraint is FARs, not WS pickup limit.

Here is the PCS logic I used without a PB friend.

PCS cycle 1
PB drop Trip 1
PCS swap Trip 2 for Trip 1 and Trip 3

PCS cycle 2
PB drop Trip 1
PCS swap Trip 3 for Trip 1 and Trip 2

lather rinse repeat till out of PB days

Or double down
PB drop Trip 1 & 2
PCS swap Trip 3 for Trip 1,2 and 4

PB drop Trip 1 & 2
PCS swap Trip 4 for Trip 1,2 and 3

this burns 2 PB per PCS cycle vs just 1 PB

* Any resemblence to Trip 7 is purely coincidental and not an infringement on a trademarked screenname.

Other thoughts
PB days are pay/credit, so if you PB drop 70 hours (GS trigger), you can fly an entire month at GS pay for every trip.

Does anyone know:

The person picking up the trip via WS, do they have to put in a new WS request before each PCS run or does one slip for the specific trip stay active even after the trip was awarded?

I believe he needs to put in multiple WS requests but he can put in a bunch at one time to make it easy . WS1, WS2 etc.

Also vacation prior to the trip is better than vacation after. I tried to work this with a senior Pilot who had vacation and they had a block limit that I failed to detect. They flew heavy in the last half of the previous month - so be careful.

Maybe you can ask whoever you are working with to run the trip through the rules auditor to check if it will process.

Not to high jack this thread, but I also have a Pay Back question. I still have 3 pay back days from this summer. Would you all recommend using them all now, or letting some of them convert to SUPP days (assuming I can make them work). I'm a new hire who will hit year 2 pay in May with hopes to bid vacation in the fall.

Depends on what you are looking for. For max $$ you'd want to use them now. On most fleets you can find a trip with ~8 hours of block on day 1, so 3 PB days turns into 24 hours of pay. On the other hand, letting them convert to SUPP days can help you get more time off next year, especially if you use them as IVD's to drop a trip or reserve days when coverage is bad.

You don’t need to do the smart sheet magic anymore. They updated iCrew such that when you put in your PB with PD request, you simply tell it how many PB days you would like to use if it drops. They anlso upped the limit from 2 to 10 events on a day (Hey, progress!!). When the friend picks it up as a Q trip, it processes automatically. The easiest way to get it back to repeat the process is via MiCrew friends. You can either pull it back, or he can push it back. It’s super easy. There was an epic example last year where a 765 FO did this to the tune of 999 hours of credit in one MONTH.

Just wondering if anyone knows where on SkyHub I can go to read more about this heart-warming story & see screenshots of the timecard? Or maybe I can find it in the next Weekly Update under #PilotsMakingADifference?

:D

Thanks! Do you have to put a PB Day on Day 1 of a trip. For example, I have a 4 day trip next month and day 3 is 8+ hours of block.

Yes the PB days used to drop a trip will always go to the first day through last day of the trip (depending on trip length and how many PB days your using to drop it). No sharpshooting days of the trip. Also, all credit in a trip goes to the last day, so be careful to pick a trip that has high BLOCK on the days you'll be using a PB day on.
