Wonder how crew sked dropped the ball by not using a reserve or a fresh crew to do the rescue. Either that or the poor weather really did last the whole duty day. Might get a slap on the wrist by FAA but doubt it will cost us our ETOPS OpSoec.

From what I read elsewhere, they had to send two different rescue flights because the first had the wrong gen dec and the crew timed out.

Meh....Gen Dec with YVR versus YYR can't be that big of a deal. It's Canada...basically the 51st state. 🤣

Customs on rescue flights can be tricky. I got rerouted from a RSW lavyover to ferry to MIA to fly a 737 back to ATL that diverted. The diverted flight was from somewhere in the Caribbean and all the PAX and the FAs where waiting on the plane. Well enroute to ATL we start an ACARS conversation with dispatch about the fact that we were never out of the country and could he call customs and alert them to our situation.

Well needless to say we tell the customs agent our situation and promplty get the dog watching TV look. He makes a few phone calls - nothing. Calls a supervisor - more dog watching TV. Makes a few phone call - nothing. Finally calls another supervisor, they have a pow wow and tell us to proceed. It only took about 10 minutes but we were lucky it could have been ugly.

Took an A330 ftom Boston to JFK on a ferry. Passing 10,000 acars lights up with message to return to BOS as the CDG A330 was hard broke. Pull into the international terminal in BOS and customs says we have to clear customs. However they wont let us clear in since we never cleared out. Were it not for a customs supervisors with brain cells that actually communicated with each other we might still be there.

Mr. Left-hand, meet Mr. Right-hand. You might want to get to know each other.
