If you look at the routing of the aircraft (3411) the past few days it couldn't have been cheap. Positoned to DFW on Monday from LAX. Yesterday (Tuesday) it operated DFW-LAX-KOA. As of now it is currently on the ground in LAX having just operated KOALAX. It's scheduled to operate LAXDFW next which is presumably the fini flight. |

Wow, balling.

Keith is an awesome guy, and I couldn't be happier for him. What a great way to go out!

I just can’t help but feel bad for the guy. If he had just gotten to stay two more years to age 67, he would have been able to afford to charter an A350.
|
As someone else mentioned, Keith is a great guy and a pleasure to fly with. Talk about going out in style!

Yeah look up the pilot rotation for it.. pretty interesting! Is he a management guy or something or just big pimpin'? Seems like he wrote a book too if you google his name.
Dude was a class act when I had the pleasure of chatting with him. I read his book as a young kid and is part of the what inspired me to fly F-16s. Vipers in the Storm.

I'm not certain, but I think he was either against or neutral on age 67. |
This is a much better representation of senior, Delta pilots than some other things in the news. Hopefully he had a great time with the people he loves.

I'm going to grab a copy of his book. What a spectacular end to a stellar career

Damn, now I've got one more goal for retirement savings.....enough to retire comfortably, with enough left over to do something like this too. 🤪 What an epic way to go out! |

Yeah unlike me who can’t justify buying a coffee from the overpriced airport vendors. Barely make enough to get by as it is, so guys doing stuff like this blow mind.

What the heck? Isn't telling the sim instructor to lower the sim, "We're done" halfway thru the session isn't good enough anymore? What a show off.......

One of my mentors (different airline) retired recently and I asked him if he's got anything planned for his retirement flight. He told me he wasn't doing anything of that sort and was far more interested in maximizing the enjoyment of his free time and depleting his sick bank before his birthday. I'll admit I'm a sucker for the cool memories and celebrating a successful career, but I've come to really admire the ones who go quietly.
All the power to this guy though, sounds like he made a positive impact on many throughout his career here and went out with a bang. |

Hopefully my fini trip is a Paris one, think I can swing it, my wife and kids and crew will hopefully enjoy that bottle with me. It will certainly be an emotional time. I think that will be a fitting end to my years here and I can't think of any other way to "celebrate" that than with my two families. We'll see if I can pull it off when that time comes. This was certainly one cool way of sending yourself off though, not gonna lie! |

There's a little bistro in Paris with a fantastic wine cellar. There's a 1984 bottle of Domain Romanee Conti Burgundy that literally has my name on it.

Better buy 3 or 4 bottles. You might need a couple green slips between now and then. |

Your wife is cool with this "other" family? 😀

It's enough trust me as it's a magnum. Super rare find I made some time ago. My wife and I and kids, well adults, have enjoyed the fine wines France has to offer.

Flew with him a couple times while he was planning this, almost two years ago. He said he did well with his money and that’s how he wanted to spend a large chunk of his nest egg. He figured at least several $100k. Recent word was closer to half a mil. He’s an interesting guy, always doing something. As was said, wrote a book about flying Vipers, finished the Boston Marathon at 60 on a completely torn hip, etc. OBTW, a good captain and great guy on the layo!

I can't wait to see how the guy in SEA who cashed in PB days and banked a $200K month tops this when he retires.
We have several A's across the system on the 330 and 350 quitely making a million+ a year with LCA pay, green slips, and thunder/PBs. |

I heard it was 750K and took a bunch of his friends who took the early out from Covid - so they probably spent less than 100K a piece
$1M for 24 hours...epic |

It was about 80 people, apparently, $600k for the plane plus another $400k on the stuff in HI.

Good on him. He certainly left in style. Never seen a Brinks truck following a hearse.

Not including the flight, $5,000 per person for 24 hours in Hawaii? For that money, I hope they all at least got leid.

Can’t believe he would spend his kids’ inheritance like that. The greed of these seniors knows no bounds 😤

To each their own. It just feels to me like he just gave Delta back his entire last years salary. I hope I have that much money to
